Police Chief Jim McDonnell's weekday crime summary for Thurs., Sept. 8 and Fri., Sept. 9.

Thursday, September 8

FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION - Studebaker Road and 7th Street – 9:30 a.m. An adult male driver, and sole occupant, lost control of his vehicle and drove into the San Gabriel flood channel. The vehicle and driver were submerged underwater for several minutes. The driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 3

ROBBERY – 7200 block of East Carson Street – 4:00 p.m. Officers responded to scene of a robbery where two adult male suspects entered a local business, stole several items and assaulted employees as they were fleeing the scene. There were no injuries. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 5

ASSAULT – 800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard – 9:00 p.m. Officers responded to a report of shots fired and found evidence of a shooting. Officers located a residential structure struck by gunfire. No victims were located at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 1
