Chief Jim McDonnell's Briefing to Media for Monday, August 29 and Tuesday, August 30.

This is the "Chief's Daily Briefing" to the Media by Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell's Office, which sends it out as staffing allows, but usually Monday through Friday mornings. This one landed about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Monday, August 29

ASSAULT – 3000 block of Santa Fe Avenue – 5:30 a.m. Officers responded to a report of an adult male victim who was assaulted at a local bus stop by an adult male suspect. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries to his upper body. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 7

FELONY THEFT – 2800 block of Long Beach Boulevard – 11:00 a.m. Officers responded to a report of theft at a local business after the employees realized several items had been stolen from their inventory. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 6

ASSAULT – 6900 block of Paramount Boulevard – 5:00 p.m. A juvenile female was walking on the sidewalk when she noticed someone behind her. The victim turned around and was by a juvenile female suspect. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to her upper torso and was transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 9

DECEASED – 6600 block of East Pacific Coast Highway – 6:00 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a deceased adult male subject in the bushes behind a local business. No foul play is suspected. Long Beach detectives and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 3

Tuesday, August 30

FELONY SUSPECT ARRESTED – 2900 block of East Anaheim Street – 4:00 a.m. Officers responded to the scene of a residential burglary, secured the location and discovered the suspect stole several items. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers diligently investigated the incident and tracked down the suspect, who was still in possession of the loss. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the loss was recovered. -- Council District 4
