4 Arrested in String of Belmont Shore Robberies

The suspect's allegedly threatened their victims with a gun, and assaulted others.

The Long Beach Police Department announced today the arrest of four suspects wanted in connection to a series of that targeted visitors and residents of Belmont Shore in March.

The arrests are the result of collaborative effort between the victims, who provided eyewitness accounts, and Long Beach Robbery Detail detectives and the Career Criminal Apprehension Team, according to officials.

The suspects, all residents of San Pedro, have been identified as 19-year-old Anthony Bolden, 20-year-old Victory Miller, 19-year-old Danel Lamar. The identity of the fourth suspect is being withheld because he is a 17-year-old juvenile, according to the Long Beach police.

Three of the adult suspects have been charged with multiple counts of robbery, and a fourth, a juvenile, was charged with one count of robbery.

The Crimes

According to a statement released by the Long Beach police, the first incident occurred March 13 at approximately 10 p.m., when three suspects confronted in the 100 block of Nieto Avenue and brandished a gun. One victim was robbed of her purse before the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

The second robbery occurred March 27, at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of Broadway. The confronted a woman and robbed her purse before fleeing on foot.

On March 28, at approximately 11:50 p.m., a third robbery occurred near the Belmont Pool at 4000 Olympic Plaza. Four men were on the beach when they were confronted by four male suspects, including one armed with a gun.

Three of the victims managed to flee and the remaining victim was allegedly him of his phone. The suspected allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle.

A partial license plate number acquired from one of the victims led officers to San Pedro. The investigation included multiple search warrants and resulted in the April 5 arrest of three suspects, who were charged April 9 by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s.

The arrest of the juvenile suspect was made April 11, and he was charged with one count of robbery Monday.

Tips from local police

Authorities urge all residents to practice the following crime prevention tips to reduce the odds of becoming a victim, and to minimize losses should a crime occur:

  • Always be aware of your surroundings, including who is around you
  • Only carry what you need in your purse or wallet-remove excess credit cards, and anything with your social security number on it if possible
  • Make copies of the front and back of all cards and documents that you carry, should you need to cancel them in a hurry
  • Try to use well-lighted and well-traveled walkways whenever possible
  • Call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency number, (562) 435-6711 to report suspicious activity when you see it happening, such as suspicious people or vehicles
