A Long Beach man who got into a disagreement Sunday night died Tuesday night, and Long Beach Police Department detectives arrested a suspect Thursday.

There were few details about what might have provoked or led to the attack, but the following news release was issued by the Long Beach Police Department:

On Tuesday May 8, 2012, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to a local hospital regarding an adult male in critical condition that had been involved in an assault several days prior, and immediately began investigating. The man was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, May 9th, and the suspect believed responsible has been taken into custody.

The preliminary investigation determined that the victim, identified as 45-year-old Son Pech of Long Beach, was assaulted after he became involved in a verbal altercation with another subject on the evening of Sunday, May 6, 2012, in the area of 10th Street and Gardenia Avenue. Once the altercation ended, the victim went home with family members, yet was unresponsive the following morning.  Paramedics were called and transported the victim to a local hospital where he remained until his death.

There were no weapons involved in the assault and the investigation remains ongoing.  The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death.

On the afternoon of Thursday, May 10, 2012, detectives from the Career Criminal Apprehension Team located the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Bunchan Plomma of Long Beach, at his home and arrested him without incident.  He is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
