Fatal Motorcycle Crash Driver Was From Long Beach

The CHP had closed several Long Beach and Seal Beach-area ramps Friday to investigate Thursday's deadly wreck near the connector construction.

A 57-year-old motorcyclist from Long Beach who died after he crashed his bike on Route 22 near the big construction project in Seal Beach was identified Saturday by the Orange County Coroner's Office.

James Robinett crashed his motorcycle about noon Thursday on the westbound freeway, approaching the Los Alamitos Channel, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Robinett died at the scene, according to the coroner's office. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the CHP. The freeway segment, which links the San Diego (405) Freeway to Seventh Street in Long Beach, is being rebuilt nearby, and accident investigation closed the link for about four hours.
