A pedestrian killed by a vehicle on Interstate Highway 280 in San
Jose Friday has been identified as a 32-year-old Long Beach resident.
Gene Shannonhouse was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's.
The crash occurred on the southbound side of I-280 -- just north of state Highway 87 -- according to the
California Highway Patrol.
The CHP received a report at about 11 p.m. that an automobile had
struck a person on I-280.
Officers located the pedestrian and the involved vehicle on the
right shoulder of the roadway, according to the CHP.
There was no indication that the driver was under the influence
and the person will not be arrested, Officer Chris Falkowski said.
The accident is still under investigation, Falkowski said.
