The Long Beach Police Dept. disclosed the fatal shooting 24 hours later in a press release.

A 21-year-old man was gunned down as he walked along Elm Avenue Wednesday night in what the Long Beach Police Dept. stated Thursday night may be gang-related. A motive for the shooting was not yet determined, said a department spokeswoman.

The victim was identified as Wilson Edwards, 21, of Long Beach.

Police were called at 8:40 p.m. Wednesdy to a report of shots being fired in the 5600 block of Elm. Officers arrived to find Edwards laying wounded in the ''upper body" on the sidewalk, said spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
