Autopsy Pending for Man Found in Burning Bushes

His body was amid vegetation set afire near Los Angeles River Bike Path and Pacific Coast Highway.

An autopsy was pending Sunday to determine what caused the death of a man found by Long Beach firefighters along the Los Angeles River bike trail.

Firefighters responding to a 6:39 a.m. report of a fire Saturday put out the vegetation fire and found the body along DeForest Avenue, just north of Pacific Coast Highway, on the east side of the river. The location is near Cressa Park.

The case was turned over to Los Angeles County coroner's investigators, who will try to identify the man and determine his cause of death.
