Long Beach Man Charged with Attempted Murder after Stabbing

The attack occurred in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue last week.

Arturo Villareal, 21, of Long Beach, was charged with attempted murder Tuesday for the  of a 20-year-old man in the upper body last week.

Police said the incident occurred during an argument between the two but the motive remains unclear, the Contra Costa Times reported. The attack occurred in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue and was reported at around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Long Beach police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani told City News Service.

The victim of the attack, whose name is being withheld, remains in critical condition.

Villareal did not enter a plea when he was formally charged at the Long Beach Superior Court. He is currently being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, reported Coast Costa Times.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Long Beach homicide detectives at 562-570-7244.
