Long Beach Man Among Burglary Suspects Arrested

Jewels and a police scanner were among property allegedly found on suspects.

A Long Beach resident and another man were allegedly found in possession of a cache of jewelry and a police scanner in Cerritos, where they were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station Residential Burglary Team reported spotting a suspicious vehicle with no license plates at 183 Bloomfield Ave.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the two men inside the vehicle -- a 45-year-old resident of Long Beach and a 20-year-old resident of Los Angeles -- were allegedly in possession of burglary tools, possible stolen property and a police scanner tuned to the local police frequency, said Lt. Richard Harpham of the Cerritos Sheriff's Station.

Both men were arrested and booked at Cerritos Station for Reasonable Cause Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, and Possession of Burglary Tools. One of the suspects was also wanted in another jurisdiction for residential burglary, the lieutenant added.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working to identify the owners of the stolen property.
