Long Beach Firefighter Charles Hakopian Presented with Medal of Valor after Saving 2-year-old's Life

Charles Hakopian rescued a 2-year-old child from a two-story apartment fire in December of 2010

Long Beach firefighter Charles Hakopian on Wednesday was presented with the Medal of Valor by Governor Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris in Sacramento after saving a 2-year-old child from a two-story apartment in North Long Beach that was on fire last December.

According to an LBFD release, Hakopian, despite falling down amidst the intense fire, bravely proceeded to save the boy, who was found unconscious.

Hakopian carried the child to the paramedics and was given immediate attention and later sent to the hospital. The 2-year-old child is a survivor because of the brave and immediate actions taken by Hakopian that morning.
