Long Beach Apartment Fire Cause is Under Probe

Two additional apartments in the Elm Avenue complex were also damaged in the fire, the cause of which is under probe.

One person was displaced when a fire caused heavy damage to a unit on the top floor of a three-story apartment building in Long Beach Wednesday, authorities said.

Two other units also sustained related damage, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the 4000 block of Elm Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, said Long Beach Fire Department Firefighter Matthew Dobberpuhl.

He said firefighters assisted several residents to safe areas while others fought the flames. No injuries were reported. The fire's cause and damage estimate were not available.
