LB Officer Earns Community Service Award

Jackie Bezart rose through the ranks from a non-sworn community relations position where she stayed five years before becomng a sworn officer, then detective.

DETECTIVE TO RECEIVE 2011 "HOMER L. GARROTT COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD"

 

The Long Beach Police Department announced that Violent Crimes Detective Jackie Bezart will be presented with the 2011 “Homer L. Garrot Community Service Award” by the Southern California Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.

The presentation takes place at the annual Tenth Annual Achiever’s dinner on Saturday, March 12. This event highlights individuals who are committed to community service, professionalism, and dedication to the people they serve.

Detective Bezart has served the City of Long Beach for sixteen years, eleven of which she was a sworn officer. Her first five years were spent in the public information office, where the department said she was dedicated to developing and maintaining open lines of communication between the community and the department. She is, the department said in announcing the award, a well-respected officer and advocate for victims and their families, and as a Violent Crimes detective for this past year, she continues to build and maintain positive relationships with the community.

The event will take place at the USC Town and Gown, located at 665 Exposition Boulevard, Los Angeles, 90089. The reception is at 6:00 p.m. with dinner served at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person. For additional information:  www.sccnoble.org.
