LB Hiker Found Dead at Mt. Baldy

The 60-year-old's body was discovered Sunday morning.

A Long Beach man believed to have been hiking alone was found dead at the Mt. Baldy Summit Sunday around 10:45 a.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.

Dominic Belletti, 60, died from an apparent unwitnessed fall, said a brief statement from the San Bernardino County department. Hikers found the man in an area named Baldy Bowl. Belletti left reportedly had left his Long Beach residence earlier Sunday morning.

NBC Los Angeles said Sheriff's department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said information about trail condition or Balletti's equipment was not available Monday due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. She told the news outlet volunteers worked on the search for Balletti.

The coroner division is investigating his death.
