Hit-Run Victim Named as Long Beach Police Seek Driver

Witnesses and leads are sought in weekend crash that left a San Pedro woman dead.

Authorities today identified a 51-year-old San Pedro woman who was fatally injured in Long Beach by a car driven by a hit-and-run motorist. The accident was reported at 9:51 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Linden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers found the woman lying on the roadway, and she was taken to a hospital, where she died. She was identified as Yolanda Archuleta, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

According to police, a black four-door Honda was westbound on Anaheim Street when it struck the victim, who was trying to cross Anaheim to get to the west side of Linden Avenue. The car stopped, and both the driver and a passenger were seen getting out of the vehicle and walking over to the victim before getting back inside the vehicle and driving away, police said.

The car likely sustained moderate-to-major front end damage, as well as a broken headlight. The driver was a Hispanic man in his mid 20s wearing a white shirt. The passenger was a Hispanic female with shoulder-length hair.
