An extraordinarily high tide has breached the sand berm at Ocean Boulevard and 55th Place in Long Beach, says Brian Fisk, Firefighter-Paramedic with the Long Beach Fire Department.

Search and rescue volunteers are sandbagging and public works personnel are on scene rebuilding the berm, he says.

Three engines and 15-20 firefighters, along with two battalion chiefs, are also at the scene, Fisk says.

No damage to structures has been reported.

There is no berm at 55th place (berm starts at about 59th) and tide tables say tide was low on July 5, 6, 7 etc. So I'm confused. Would appreciate clarification.
