Fatal Shooting on Gaviota

The shooting was reported around 3:10 a.m.

A man was fatally shot Monday in Long Beach, police said.

The shooting was reported about 3:10 a.m. in the 1000 block of Gaviota Avenue, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

The man, who was wounded in the upper body, died at the scene, Pratt said. His name was not immediately released. Investigators were unsure of a motive for the crime. No arrests were reported.
