DUI Checkpoint Set for Long Beach This Weekend

Impaired Drivers are the target of the latest sweep funded by a grant.

The Long Beach Police Department will be conducting a Driving Under the Influence - Driver's License Checkpoint on Saturday, September 3, from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. Sunday, September 4 in the western section of the city.

In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in  alcohol involved collisions, checkpoints are also conducted to identify DUI offenders and get them off the street, to ensure drivers have a valid driver license, as well as to educate the public on the dangers of driving while impaired.

By publicizing these enforcement and educational efforts, the Long Beach Police Department said it believes motorists can be deterred from driving while impaired.
