Double Shooting at Khoury's Probed as Gang-Related

Long Beach police say the shootings of a man and woman are non-fatal and the victims are no longer hospitalized.

The shootings early Sunday morning at the often-crowded Khoury's Restaurant and bar are being investigated as gang-related, the Long Beach Police Department said Monday night.

The victims had been attending a gathering at the waterfront restaurant on Alamitos Bay Saturday evening, said police department spokeswoman Lisa Massacani. The victims were not identified by the police department.

At 1:08 a.m., the man was outside the restaurant, where he was shot in the upper body by what appeared to be a single gunman firing from the parking lot, which is between Marina Drive and the restaurant. An employee told Patch he was shot in the neck. A female was wounded on her lower body as she stood inside the restaurant. Both victims are 31, Massacanni said.

"The gunfire also hit the female who was inside," she added. The relationship of the pair was not stated, nor whether they are a couple or related. It was also not immediately known if the victims were targets, gang menbers or wounded randomly. The police also did not release the name of the ''business'' at 110 Marina Drive. Employees confirmed it was Khoury's. The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries, and have since been released, Massacani said. The incident is being investigated as gang-related, and the investigation is ongoing. Those with info can contact Long Beach Police Department Gang Detail Detective Jerry Poole at (562) 570-7370.
