There is a hole in a Long Beach doughnut shop this morning after a man drove a car into the front of the storefront and then ran from the scene, a police spokeswoman said.

The incident happened at 2:35 a.m. at Seventh Street and Gaviota Avenue, said Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

Employees were working inside the 24-hour business. One person inside the business was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

"A driver of a Toyota sedan struck the business and then fled the scene," Pratt said. "The suspect was described as a male, 25 to 30."

The car had not been reported stolen, she said, and was subsequently impounded. Police requested a firm be called to board up the front of the building, Pratt said.
