Take Our Poll on D.A. Findings in Shore Shooting
Attached is the D.A. report released Thursday finding LBPD officers committed no crime in killing Doug Zerby, believing he raised a gun. It was a hand-grip hose nozzle.
Eleven months after Long Beach police officers, responding to a Belmont Shore resident's 9-1-1 call reporting a man with a gun, fatally shot Doug Zerby, the Los Angeles District Attorney said Thursday it found police justified in firing at him.

Zerby is survived by his parents, siblings and a young son. A legal claim was filed against Long Beach, which denied it, and the Zerby family intends to sue the city in federal court for civil rights violations, their attorney, Brian Claypool, said Thursday.
