Crash This Morning at PCH and Clark

Long Beach police say the victim was standing in the roadway, not in a crosswalk.

A 20-year-old Cypress man who was standing in the roadway of Pacific Coast Highway this morning was critically injured when he was struck by an SUV in Long Beach, police said.

The incident occurred at about 7:20 a.m. in northbound lanes of the 4900 block stretch of PCH, near Clark Avenue, said Lisa Massacani of the Long Beach Police Department. The man was not in a crosswalk.

A Costa Mesa woman, 56, was driving the SUV north when her vehicle hit the man, who was not in a crosswalk, Massacani.

The driver was interviewed and released, Massacani said. Anyone with information on the accident was asked to call traffic investigator Brian Watt at (562) 570-7355.
