Arraignment Postponed in Burning SUV Case

By Nicole Mooradian

The two teens accused of killing a Long Beach resident Christopher Waters and leaving his body in a burning SUV in Palos Verdes will now be arraigned June 26 in Long Beach.

The arraignments of Adrian Berumen, 17, of Compton and Jose Angel Martinez, 18, of Long Beach were originally scheduled for Tuesday. Berumen, who was being held without bail, has been charged as an adult. Martinez is being held on $1 million bail.

Authorities believe that Berumen and Martinez killed Waters after an argument over a business deal.

Authorities believe that Martinez and Berumen killed Waters in Long Beach, then drove the SUV to the 30100 block of Miraleste Drive and set it on fire with the victim inside. Waters was found with his feet bound and a cord around his neck.
