The suspect, unnamed but described by the Long Beach Police Department as a man in his 20s, reportedly pulled a gun on the teenager in the 500 block of Chestnut Avenue about 5 a.m., Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

Officers lost sight of the suspect after a short pursuit, then called for SWAT  backup, Pratt said. She said several blocks were sealed off between 4th Street and 7th Street, although no further details were provided on that closure.

The suspect surrendered after about an hour into the and the suspect surrendered about an hour later, according to Pratt. A handgun was recovered by police, she said.

The victim, taken to an area where the suspect was being detained, identified the man as the person who had robbed him, Fox11 reported (their source was not disclosed in this story  by CNS).  The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspect's name and booking charges were not immediately available and police explained this under the blanket comment that it was still under investigation.
