Report of Adult With Gun Prompts School Lockdown

Long Beach Council Member Gerrie Schipske emails that Bancroft Middle School was locked down and police were there. Campus was checked and Long Beach Unified said "unauthorized person" never found.

Update 2:30 p.m. withLong Beach Unified School District statement from spokesman Chris Eftychiou about the reports of a lockdown at Bancroft Middle School:

As a precaution today, the Bancroft campus was locked down at about 11:30 a.m. after a report of a possible unauthorized person on campus.  We followed our safety procedures, and with the help of police and School Safety we conducted a thorough search of the campus but found no such unauthorized person on campus.  The lockdown was lifted at about 1:45 p.m., and we resumed the day with a delayed lunch period. Long Beach City Council Member Gerrie Schipske alerted residents about an hour ago that Bancroft Middle School in her council district had been put on lockdown after a report of an adult on campus with a gun.

I have just been informed that Bancroft School which is on Centralia in Lakewood Village area is on lock down due to the report of an armed adult on campus.

The Long Beach Police Department, the LA County Sheriff and Long Beach Unified School District Security are on scene. The report of an armed adult on campus has not yet been verified.

As soon as I learn of more information, I will share it.

Bancroft School NO LONGER on Lock Down STATUS

AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE LBPD HAS JUST INFORMED ME THAT BANCROFT SCHOOL IS NO LONGER ON LOCK DOWN. THANKS TO THE EXCELLENT RESPONSE OF LBUSD AND LAW ENFORCEMENT.
