Accused Child Molester Fails to Show in Court

Man arrested by Long Beach police and extradited to Colorado failed to appear for trial and an arrest warrant was issued. Police ask public's help in finding man with Bob Marley tattoo.

A man with a Bob Marley tattoo who was arrested by Long Beach police on charges he assaulted a child was being sought Friday night by authorities in Colorado, where he failed to appear for trial Monday.

Jason McDavitt, 46, was a suspect in a child sex crimes case when he moved in 2011 to Long Beach, Arvada Police Department spokeswoman Jill McGranahan said in an e-mail.

When McDavitt, who has a Bob Marley tattoo, was charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, Long Beach Police Department worked with Arvada police to arrest McDavitt. He was then extradited to Jefferson County, Colorado, McGranahan wrote.
