A man with a Bob Marley tattoo who was arrested by Long Beach police on charges he assaulted a child was being sought Friday night by authorities in Colorado, where he failed to appear for trial Monday.
Jason McDavitt, 46, was a suspect in a child sex crimes case when he moved in 2011 to Long Beach, Arvada Police Department spokeswoman Jill McGranahan said in an e-mail.
When McDavitt, who has a Bob Marley tattoo, was charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, Long Beach Police Department worked with Arvada police to arrest McDavitt. He was then extradited to Jefferson County, Colorado, McGranahan wrote.
"The Arvada Police are seeking the public’s help in locating accused child molester Jason McDavitt (DOB 2/1/76)," McGranahan stated. "McDavitt failed to appear at his trial on Monday, December 10 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. McDavitt also has a restraining order in place where he is to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18."
McDavitt was described by McGranahan this way: "White/Hispanic male, 5’9” tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos including one of Bob Marley on his right forearm. He is known to have family in California, Ohio, Washington and New York.
"The public is asked that if they see McDavitt to please call Arvada Police Detective Nancy Gonzales at 720.898.6720."
