Who's A Part Of Whom?

On sets: both sub, super and even up.

Ask your parent this question:

Are you a part of me or am I a part of you?

It can be very illuminating.

And what was your parents' answer, Pan?

She said, "You're a part of me, of course. You *came* from me."

What I tell my son? "We shared a heartbeat. I can't say that about anyone else in the world but my own Mom."

Good point, Nancy. Some of my favorite memories are the rare times when my rhythms and those of another have aligned for a few days. Totally dependent on time (open-ended) and commitment (complete) which goes to explaining the rarity I guess.

So do you thing any parents go all Carl Jung in order to answer that question? I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly. I'm crying.

I don't know, Dan. The interesting part to me was that she couldn't see it the other way: Da + Ma = DaMa+ She *was* cool with 'we are stardust, we are golden' (as long as you left it at that :-)
