Keep on Food Truckin'

The most delicious event within 3 miles of Belmont Shore, Lunch Truck It, blew my socks off with great food and friendly service. Check out my blog to hear more about this scrumptious event!

Holy food trucks! This Belmont Shore- friendly food event was more than I could ever imagine. I was in food truck heaven. There were five food trucks lined up on either side of blocked off Coronado Street. As I turned the corner, I saw upwards of fifty people looking around with smiles on their faces chatting about the numerous menu items from truck to truck.  From businessmen to college students, everyone was anxious to get their hands on some delicious food.

I decided to bring along with me my friend/extra stomach Sherin Tebbi, a fellow Cal State Long Beach student, so we could conquer this event like it was a walk in the park. Our strategy was to split up and devour as much food as we could. I must say it was a fabulous plan.

First I went to the highly anticipated truck, Kogi. This Korean BBQ truck out did my expectations. I decided to try their famous tacos and Kogi sliders. The tacos were no bigger than the size of my palm but packed in so many flavors. The pulled pork was out of this world. It was juicy and tender at the same time and packed with many complementary items. The “cilantro-green onion-lime relish” and “sesame-chili salsa roja” mixed with cabbage and lettuce stung my taste buds in the best way possible.

While I was devouring this incredible taco, Sherin made her way over to the Grilled Cheese Truck.  She customized her own sandwich to have cheddar cheese and avocado. For a simple grilled cheese sandwich, it sure did make a lasting impression. The grilled cheese truck offers the option of dipping sauce that can make or break a sandwich. In Sherin’s case, it made her sandwich. She got a small side of tomato soup. The soup mixed with the cheese and avocado grilled sandwich was mouth-watering. On this cold and windy day, it was the perfect melted treat to warm your bones.

As Sherin and I were lost in a trance of our food, we noticed a commotion happening at the end of this food truck walk. The Grill ‘Em All truck had a line down the block before they had even opened. Once they finally opened, there was a loud commotion. The truck started to blast heavy metal music while pumping through customer after customer. I, of course, decided to join in the crowd of hungry people to see what all of the hype was about.

Looking at the menu I saw a burger “Hannah Montana” which was an all-American burger that was stuffed with a juicy patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and ketchup. This classic burger was the perfect contradiction to this wild truck. They had other items like the “Samoa Joe” which was jam packed with cheddar, “mosh pit BBQ”, pineapple, and beer soaked onion. The juicy pineapple mixed with the tangy barbeque sauce was enough to convince me that this truck was worth blogging about.

The last truck that I crawled over to was Chip ‘n’ Chunk. It was a customizable ice cream sandwich truck. This was any dessert lovers dream on four wheels. There were several options of ice cream and cookies of your liking. I made any college students dream treat. Coffee ice cream squished together with chocolate cookies. It was the way perfect end to our day. The cookies were still warm and the ice cream was unlike anything you can find in a store. If you ever come across any of these trucks, do not hesitate to try any of the item menus.

I am so happy with the outcome of this adventure to Coronado and Redondo! I hope you all join me next time on January 4th. Keep checking back to my blog to hear all about the food trucks closest to Belmont Shore!
