Keep on Food Truckin'

What's your New Year resolution? Mine is to eat delicious food all day every day! Check out my blog to keep up with food trucks rolling though Belmont Shore.

Once again I am blown away by all of the delicious food that our food trucks can produce. Wednesday afternoon played host to the food truck event known as Lunch Truck It. This event brought out some veteran trucks and some new comers that are sure to knock your socks off. As I reported in my last blog, two new trucks were going to be present this month. Fresh Fries and Lobsta Truck were expected to be the only new trucks parked on Coronado Street, but a third was added.

This truck was called Vizzi, which focused on making coastal infused cuisine. I was so pleasantly surprised to see that there was a new truck added to the roster that I definitely had to try it out. Their menu had everything from truffle popcorn to wagyu beef sliders. This truck took gourmet food to the next level. This item that stood out to me was the "Chun Li" taco. This taco was packed with spicy flavor that had me wanting more. It had Kung pao chicken, crushed chili sauce, charred peppers, cabbage, and a spicy sauce called queso Panela. This palm-sized taco was the perfect combination if spicy and sweet. The spices in the queso panela sent my taste buds crazy, but the sweet chicken kept them calm.

If that wasn’t enough, they served the taco with their famous truffle popcorn. I have never heard of such a thing before so, of course, I dived right into it. This popcorn instantly became my new favorite snack. It was regular popcorn covered in sea salt and their "white truffle essence," which had a crushed pepper flavor that could send anyone wild. I highly recommend paying this truck a visit if you come across it. If you are dying to know more, check out their website at www.vizzitruck.com.

Fresh Fries, the French fry truck, was a hit this time around. There was a line that was about twenty people deep, but it was worth the wait. I decided to try the curly fries. Best decision of my life. In the words of my fellow foodie Garrett Higginbotham, “ I have never had better curly fries than Jack in the Box until now.” Spoken like a true college student, these curly fries could stump Jack in the Box any day. For only three dollars, these fries made a lasting impact on my taste buds. For only fifty cents more, you can add a dipping sauce of your choice. I decided to go big or go home and chose the most interesting sauce on the menu. I tried the chipotle mayo and was not disappointed. I could dip anything into this creamy sauce and be completely satisfied. To check out more that this fried truck has to offer check them out at www.freshfries.biz.

I can’t wait for all of you foodies out there to try these awesome trucks! It amazes me that such high quality food comes out of a four-wheeled vehicle. The evolution of the classic roach coach has never ceased to shock me. Keep checking back to my blog to find out more about food trucks in Belmont Shore.
