Belmont Shore Toothpaste Deal: Get the S'Coupon It

More on toothpaste. Savings this week for toothpaste. Stock up for Belmont Shore-Naples Patch readers.

Recently another Patch writer posted an interesting article on concerns about toothpaste. I know, right? Toothpaste? Really? Yup!

Please read it here: Brush Up On Toothpaste

From the time we have children of our own, we are often bombarded with the most recent studies of what is good and what is now bad for them. For the first 15 years of my life we never wore seatbelts. Now, I have to worry about toothpaste? Well,  not so much if you read the linked article.

Sometimes it seems like too much to process. Mostly, we have to do what we feel is best because staying on top of every study is just impossible.

What we know for sure: Kids, brush your 'toofers.' It's that simple. I'm 100% sure that 2x daily tooth brushing is better prevention than not doing it. Unless you have a child with very specific allergies, it's a very healthy habit. I will say, my son is almost 17 and has never had a cavity. Not because I am Supermom ( I wish) but because I had the sealants put on before his permanents grew in. My mom had the same done for me when I was a tween and I'm positive I have had way less dental problems because of it.

Now for The S'Coupon It:

This week through 2/23/12, Rite Aid Stores (all of them in our local zip codes including all of So Cal.) are running a pretty fantastic deal on some high value toothpaste.

Colgate Total Advanced is on sale with your Rite Aid reward card for $3.50. For every one you buy, you get back $3.50. Essentially you will spend $14.00 but get back register rewards in the same amount. SO....that equals FREE! Here is the kicker:  That was transaction #1. Take the four $3.50 coupons and buy another set of four tubes...same exact brand, etc. Pay for them with the Register Rewards you just got. Rite Aid is running a "Spend $25, get back $10" deal at Rite Aid. It's cumulative so the first transaction will now be added to the second. Buying eight tubes at $3.50 each brings your total to $28.00. You will not get the $3.50 per coupon again because it is limited to four per household/registered Rewards card. You WILL leave with another $10.00 UP Rewards Coupon.

Now you have eight tubes of toothpaste.....GOOD...NAME BRAND....QUALITY toothpaste and while you spent $14 out-of-pocket, you left with $10, so it makes your purchase amount only $4.00 or .50 cents a tube for toothpaste that runs on average $4.79 a tube. That, in coupon world, is a 90% savings.

The pics attached are from my shopping trip Saturday at Rite Aid. 100% accurate. You may not need eight tubes of toothpaste. But you might think about giving back to our community. Churches, shelters, even friends or family you know who've hit hard times will appreciate toiletries that they'll feel less akward about accepting--because you got them for a steal!

Also, if you are a current shopper at Rite Aid, these items will also count this week towards your $100 goal. If you spend $100 by March 17, 2012, the Winter Rewards program will also pay out an additional $20 in UP rewards. Sales and items change weekly so keep a lookout for it.
