2-for-1 Socks Deals to Help Homeless: S'Coupon It

Deals on socks, and a Shore enterprise that does good for homeless folks. Sock donation drive for Long Beach homeless, by the non-profit, CAT. It is quick and easy volunteering.

Our local Belmont Shore good guy, Justin Rudd, is at it again. As if his many local projects weren't making the rest of us feel slightly guilty (sigh), he has added another one to the list. This week, the "Sock It To Em" campaign. The goal: 1,000 new pairs of socks donated to the homeless population here in Long Beach.

You `can become part of the fan page here to get updates and watch as pictures of donations get posted. Donations are being accepted until Tuesday, January 31st. A lot of great donation are coming in but it's going to take quite a few more packs to meet the goal. Rudd says:

1. Drop-off socks in adult or youth sizes to:
- Justin Rudd's Community Action Team, 5209 E. The Toledo #1, Belmont Shore2. Donate by check payable to CAT, or Paypal, and CAT will buy the socks. You can also Paypal to Justin@JustinRudd.com.

I know times are tight for everyone right now, especially with the bills from the Christmas giving and donations now landing in mailboxes daily. For the S'coupon It blog, I found a way for you to donate and save some money while doing so.

Currently, until 01/28/2012, all Hanes items, shirts, underwear and (yay) socks at Walgreens are B.O.G.O, or Buy One Get One. FREE. So if you were already in the market for these items, make your free item a bag of socks.

Payless ShoeSource is also running their BOGO half off. This includes socks as well.

Also, you can use your Rite-Aid card to save at least 10%-20% on any purchase (depending on your reward level). And if you really have it and money is no issue, be sure to shop at our local stores, Runners High, Gap, Tilly's, & Vans, to name a few.

Also, I would like to remind everyone that there are homeless women as well as men. I mention it in case you want to get better fitting socks for the ladies in need.

I have come to see Belmont Shore as one of the most community-driven places around. In no small part, it's because of people like Justin, but it takes everyone in the community to really make things happen. So please, will you do your part and donate some socks for the less fortunate?
