Downtown Restaurant Donates to Hospital

Parker's Lighthouse in downtown Long Beach did its part to bring joy to a number of patients at Miller Children's Hospital.

Parkers’ Lighthouse Restaurant in Shoreline Village in downtown Long Beach presented Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach with a check for more than $2,000 to go towards pediatric cancer treatment and research at the Jonthan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center.

The gift derived from the restaurant's annual “Breakfast with Santa” event, which has been in existence for over 15 years. All of the proceeds from the event went to JJCCC and Parkers’ staff volunteered their time to wait tables on the families who purchased tickets.

Over 300 community members were in attendance, along with Santa, and each brought a toy for patients spending the holidays at Miller Children’s. The morning began with Santa cruising in on a yacht, which was donated by Spirit Cruises. Children of all ages lined up to meet Santa and get their photo taken before enjoying a breakfast prepared by Parkers’ own executive chef.

“Myself and the staff look forward to this event every year,” says Michael Cole, general manager, Parkers’ Lighthouse. “Giving back to Miller Children’s is our driving force behind this event and we hope to continue this long-held tradition well into the future.”
