Queen Mary is Free for Today's Shuttle Fly-Over

The ship is among the two Long Beach locations on the route of the shuttle's final journey. Free admission lasts through early afternoon. It will also fly over the Aquarium of the Pacific.

The Queen Mary, one of the two Long Beach locations that the Endeavour will fly over, is offering free admission Friday morning for viewing the final flight before it landing at L.A.X. In a press bulletin it announced:

FREE ADMISSION TO THE QUEEN MARY THIS MORNING:

The space shuttle Endeavour has flown into orbit 25 times, and tomorrow it is flying over Southern California! To celebrate this historic occasion, as an official flyover location, the Queen Mary will be offering FREE ADMISSION to the ship between 9:30 and 11am! Just mention the word “Endeavour” at our box office to receive free admission.  On the back of NASA's Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA), the Endeavour will pass at low elevation sometime between 10 and 11am before it lands at LAX. Spend the morning on our Sun Deck to have a front row seat from one of the best vantage points during the flyover!

"The best vantage point will probably be on the Sun Deck facing the water and the city."

The Aquariium of the Pacific planned no special viewing event, said spokeswoman Marilyn Padilla, who added that petting sharks and visiting Lorikeets are a great way to wait for the fly-over Friday morning.
