There is a laundry list of things that could be done to move toward closing the income gap within the unequal states of America. We have a political system that allows people with money to have disproportionate political influence which garners that population too much control over laws and policies that keep the "Haves" widely above the "Have Nots". We need to build a more inclusive economy, and more inclusive thinking society in general. The increasing income gap in America is in essence really an "opportunity" gap. We bail out corrupt CEO's and Bankers, but leave "we the people" to drown in the "Have's" corruptive economic consequences. We can no longer carry on with the Great American thought process that to succeed all one must do is "work hard". If there is no opportunity to work your way out of poverty then no amount of effort will matter. The highest number of Americans since the Great Depression are struggling to find work, pay for education, and be self supportive. Meantime, the rich keep stocking piling their cash while the majority of Americans can't dig a wooden nickle out from between the couch cushions. When giving the rich corporate tax breaks and other rich only incentives we do nothing more then support their bank accounts. Give the people financial reward and the money goes back into the economy. Google some information on Iceland to see how they handled the same type of economic disparagement. America needs to think and act differently then we ever have in our economical and social history. Its' time to change and the first part is recognition by the people that our government is not operating to the best of our countries interest.
