On a designated
Saturday each month, Shakespeare Aloud will host a free reading of each
of Shakespeare’s 37 plays, one per month until the entire canon is complete.
Community members are warmly invited to participate as readers (no experience or audition required) or as audience members. Shakespeare Aloud provides
the opportunity to hear all the plays, to become readers, and to listen
to and work with others. A collaboration with CSULB Department of
Theatre Arts.
How it works:
Roles will be assigned at 10:45am; reading begins at 11:00am.
Character names will be placed at a table in the center of the room and
anyone who wants to read can choose a chair. There will be additional
seating for those who want to read along silently. We will take one
intermission in the middle of the play. During the break, readers at the
table can give up their seats to anyone who would like a turn reading
out loud. Some copies of the play will be provided but readers should
bring their own. Visit your local library to check out a copy! Everyone
is welcome! All voices, all dialects. Shakespeare Aloud is intended to
be a fun exploration of Shakespeare, so bring your sense of humor!
