Share Your Heart...Share Your Home - Become a foster/adoptive parent

More than 8,000 children in L.A. County, including 600 children in the Long Beach area, are in need of a temporary safe, stable and loving home.  More than 500 children of all ages and ethnicities in L.A. County are in need of adoption and a permanent home.

Councilmember Al Austin, Supervisor Don Knabe and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services invite you to learn what is involved in becoming a foster or adoptive parent.

Foster and adoptive parents can be single, married, divorced or living with a partner.  They can live in an apartment or house, and either rent or own.  There is no minimum income requirement, other than supporting oneself and providing a safe and stable home.  Financial assistance, medical coverage and supportive services are available.

Hear from a panel of current foster parents and resource providers.  Refreshments will be served, and on-site childcare will be available.

For more info or to RSVP for the event, call Melody at (562) 570-1326 or email district8@longbeach.gov.
