RTLB Volunteer Service Projects - Sign Up Now

Long Beach, CA – April 14,
2014 –
This Spring,
we have 10 projects on the roster: 7 houses and 3 community facilities,
including the U.S. VETS-Long Beach organization. Each site has been vetted and
inspected through our rigorous application process by our volunteer  Board of Directors, and each site has been
matched with a skilled House Captain and Volunteer team. We’re looking forward
to putting in a lot of hard work for a great cause–bringing volunteers and
communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income seniors, disabled
homeowners and at-risk veterans.

With only a few weeks to go before
National Rebuilding Day, we are happy to be getting into the nitty gritty
details of the work day. Our volunteer teams have begun their preparations for
a successful National Rebuilding Day by completing the final site
inspections.  These preparations are
necessary for our House Captains to determine exactly what work they will
perform, how many volunteers they will need, and what materials will be
required.

The U.S.VETS Long Beach is one of
several organizations that fund programs for veterans and their families at the
Century Villages at Cabrillo (CVC) campus.
The not-for-profit organization provides all kinds of services for the
veterans from housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive support.
U.S. VETS-Long Beach is one of the largest of the eleven U.S. VETS sites.
Located at the CVC, 26 acres of the former Cabrillo/Savannah Naval housing,
U.S. VETS- Long Beach was the first site to offer ADVANCE Woman’s Program
designed specifically for female veterans. This site serves more than 500
veterans a day.  The focus of our
improvements on April 26th will be in the cafeteria, the computer
career center and the woman's program facility room.  www.usvetsinc.org/longbeach
