“We are very excited to present our 25th ‘Silver’ Institute Class to the community,” remarks LLB Board President Rolando Cruz.  “This group represents one of our largest classes which demonstrates the awareness of our programs in fostering principled leaders and the desire of individuals to contribute in meaningfully ways to the community.”

Throughout the 10-month program, class members, representing diverse segments of the community, attend monthly day-long classes learning about various aspects of the Long Beach community and focusing on leadership principles and values.  Each class concludes their year by completing service projects which demonstrate their understanding of community issues which will benefit the Long Beach community.  Since its inception, LLB classes have completed over 110 community service projects, many of them continuing and enhancing community development since their class activity.  Additionally in 2011, LLB acknowledged the graduation of its 1000th participant from their three principled leadership programs.

About Leadership Long Beach:

Leadership Long Beach was founded in 1989 by some of our community’s most influential and visionary stakeholders. These founders envisioned the formation of a civic improvement program that would serve the community by educating and motivating leaders on issues important to the future and sustainability of our city.  The leaders produced by the Leadership Long Beach program have shared experiences, associations and values that enable them to set imaginative, yet realistic goals, and achieve them through coordinated and effective strategies.  Leadership Long Beach has three principled leadership programs – Leadership Long Beach, Youth Leadership Long Beach and BoardMatch – as well as offers continual leadership and networking opportunities throughout the year.
