Story No. 10:

One of the many unfortunate deaths that took place in 2011 was that of Bixby's. Friends, family, and city officials showed up to pay their respects to Long Beach's native son, who died in a March plane crash at Long Beach Airport along with four others.

Story No. 9:

Annette Lujan, 48, a nine-year employee at CSULB, was killed due to an elevator malfunction in early December, an incident that sent shockwaves through the campus.

Story No. 8:

It's not often that an international story can have such a profound effect on our nation, but the March earthquake in Japan did just that. Southern California has always been regarded as an earthquake hotspot, and believe it or not, the devasting quake that hit Japan could help in anticipating when "The Big One" may hit Socal.

Check back tomorrow when we will reveal stories Story No. 7, Story No. 6, and Story No. 5 in our year-ending countdown.
