Long Beach Police Arrest Suspect for Shooting at Officer: An alleged gang member was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of attempting to murder a Long Beach police officer who then returned fire before the gunman eluded a neighborhood lockdown March 18th, the police department announced. Being held without bail at the Long Beach City Jail Thursday afternoon was Juan Carlos Vasquez, 24, of Long Beach.

Former Long Beach Police Officer Arrested: A former Long Beach police officer—who has been in trouble with the law before—remains jailed after he was arrested at his Murrieta apartment on suspicion of possession of stolen property. The allegedly stolen items allegedly included a Long Beach police identification card and LBPD badge, according to Murrieta police.
