Retro Row Shop 'Sneaky Tiki' Burglarized on Christmas Eve: The owner of an E. 4th Street store is calling for the public's help in finding a burglar who broke into her store on Christmas Eve. Thousands of dollars of merchandise was stolen on Monday from the Sneaky Tiki store on Retro Row including vintage shirts, car coats, leather jackets, Mexican biker rings, high end clothing and other jewelry, according to owner Jennifer Hill.

: Cal State Long Beach has set a new record for itself by having more than 80,000 applications for the Fall 2013 semester from first-time freshmen and transfers.

Police Department Awarded DUI Checkpoint Grant: To help prevent deaths and injudies caused by drunk driving, the Long Beach Police Department was awarded a $112,800 DUI Checkpoint grant. The grant was awarded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

: A 25-year-old man was shot and wounded by a police officer during a foot chase early Sunday morning near Long Beach Boulevard and Seventh Street, police said.

Suspect in Jewelry Store Robbery Caught in Long Beach: One of five men suspected in a Moreno Valley jewelry store hold-up and shooting that led to a multi-county police chase and the lockdown of Cal State Fullerton earlier this month was being held Thursday without bail.

City Encourages Residents to Recycle Holiday Trees: With the holiday season coming to a close, the City of Long Beach is encouraging residents to recycle their Christmas trees for free at one of the city's multiple drop off points. Termed "tree-cycling," the city has set up 12 locations where residents can drop off their Christmas trees for recycling between Dec. 26 and Jan. 12.
