Two Men Shot in Long Beach Late Wednesday Night: Two men were shot and wounded in the area of 21st Street and Long Beach Boulevard, the Long Beach Police Department confirmed early Thursday. The shooting was reported around 10:25 p.m. in the 2100 block of Earl Avenue.

Long Beach Apartment Fire Cause is Under Probe: One person was displaced when a fire caused heavy damage to a unit on the top floor of a three-story apartment building in Long Beach Wednesday, authorities said. Two other units also sustained related damage, authorities said.

Long Beach Vigil Marks Gay Marriage Court Hearings: In honor of the U.S. Supreme Court hearing arguments from both sides of Prop. 8, supporters of gay marriage rights met for a candlelight vigil outside Long Beach City Hall on Tuesday. Calling the case before the high court "historic," vigil organizer and local community activist Brad Shore said the gathering is meant to be a "dignified way to honor this moment."

Jailed on suspicion of murder was Joel Torres, a Long Beach resident, who was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Man Shot to Death in North Long Beach: A man was shot to death in North Long Beach, police said late Sunday night. Long Beach police responded to a call of shots fired about 11 p.m. Sunday at 69th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, and found the victim dead at the scene, according to Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
