Update: Teacher From Long Beach Identified After Car Found in New Orleans Bayou

Dental records were used to positively identify the victim, who was found in her submerged car, authorities said.

Long Beach native Terrilyn Monette—a teacher who went missing March 2—was positively identified Monday as the passenger inside of a car dredged from a New Orleans bayou, according to an Associated Press report.

"The body ... was identified Monday as a missing teacher, and her death was ruled a drowning, the AP wrote, attributing it to the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.

"Dental records were used to identify Monette, who was 26 when she disappeared in early March, said coroner's investigator John Gagliano. There were no signs of trauma to the body, so her death was ruled a drowning, city police said in a news release. Routine toxicology tests were pending."
