Cold Weather and Rain Arrive Friday

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement advising residents to brace for cold weather, gusty winds and showers Friday.

Bundle up, Belmont Shore-Long Beach, and keep your umbrella close.

The National Weather Service says to expect cold weather with the possibility of rain through Friday night as a storm system descends on Southern California.

The system originates from the Gulf of Alaska, bringing with it lower temperatures, winds and snow to the mountains.

There is a 60 to 70 percent chance of rain for the Belmont Shore and Long Beach area through Friday. Gusty winds, west to northwest, are also expected, and isolated thunderstorms haven't been ruled out.

Anyone traveling to the mountains or desert should check the latest road conditions and take along warm clothes, supplies and tire chains.

For the latest weather information, go to the National Weather Service website.
