Get Out: Five Ideas for Your Weekend

Concerts for a good cause, majestic murals and soccer superstars rule this weekend.

Friday is soon upon us and it’s time to make plans for those precious weekend hours. The good news is, you have a lot of options. Check out our picks for this weekend’s fun activities to hit and places to explore.

Our goal is to make the Get Out planner as reliable as possible, but keep in mind, some events change at the last minute. We advise calling ahead just in case.

This weekend you can visit the groovy ‘60s, high-five soccer superstars, marvel at magic and murals, and help those who need it in Japan.

When/Where: Show times vary Thursdays-Sundays through April 17 at Musical Theatre West, 4350 E 7th St, Long Beach

Why Go: You will love the familiar ‘60s music featured in this groovy musical. Join runaway bride Holly as she learns valuable lessons from the hippies in Haight-Ashbury.

When/Where: 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. this Friday at the Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach

Why Go: This fun celebration features Latin music, dancing, food, drinks and soccer superstars. Chivas USA players will be there to meet guests and also receive a special award.

Pricing: Everyone gets in for the children’s price of $12.95

When/Where: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. this Saturday at Norris Center for the Performing Arts, 27570 Norris Center Dr (formerly Crossfield Dr), Rolling Hills Estates

Why Go: This funny Dana Daniels magic show has been featured at the Magic Castle in Hollywood and had an eight-year run at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Theater.

When/Where: 6 p.m.-10 p.m. this Saturday at Gallery Blu, 350 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach

Why Go: Watch the winning artists of the Artistic Roots Mural Contest paint majestic murals live. There will also be music, food and wine.

Pricing: Free

When/Where: 3 p.m.-2 p.m. this Sunday at Alex’s Bar, 2913 E Anaheim St, Long Beach

Why Go: This could be the event to attend this weekend. Frankie Alvaro hosts this benefit featuring an insane amount of great bands and DJs, a raffle with donated 4th St prizes, a vintage vehicle show and best of all, 100% of the proceeds goes to help those suffering in Japan
