Friday is almost here and it’s time to make your weekend plans. There are some seriously talented people in town this weekend, and you don't want to miss out on a thing. Check out our picks for un-missable shows and views.

Why Go: The well-traveled, salty writer tells great stories and fields questions from fans. Meet a culinary hero who has eaten things people usually have nightmares about.

Where/When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Art Theatre of Long Beach, 2025 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA

Why Go: Filmmaker Morgan Neville will talk to the audience after the screening of this Sundance film that celebrates songwriter legends like Carole King and James Taylor. Neville is known for his musical films and Troubadours will show you why.

Pricing: $11

 

Where/When: 8p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at

Why Go: If you thought only astronauts defy gravity, you will be pleasantly mistaken after you see these two power house dance troupes take the stage. Helios collaborated with DreamWorks director Chris Miller and the result is invigoratingly imaginative.

Pricing: $29-$58

 

4. GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT 

 Where/When: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at El Dorado Nature Center.

Why Go: Help create a snapshot of birdlife across the U.S. and Canada by counting the highest number of each different species that you see. The data that you gather will assist in determining some of the effects of global warming. 

Pricing: Participation is free. Parking at the center is $7.

 

Where/When:  12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 all along 2nd Street. Click  and mail Justin Rudd for start/stop location.   

Why Go: Justin Rudd’s Community Action Team is pledging $10 for every walker in red high heels and $5 for those in normal shoes, all to great heart health organizations in the area. All ages are welcome.

Pricing: Participation is free.
