Great American 4th of July Kids Bike Parade

Justin Rudd's 10th annual "Great American 4th of July Kids’ Bike Parade" is all about Red, White and Youth. And this year they anticipated over 500 entries, but I think it was very close to 600.

Mayor Bob Foster, Little Miss Southern California Cities Sierra Hosley, Miss Long Beach Monica Samreth and Mrs. Long Beach Kim Cloughey welcomed participants during the pre-parade activities. Representing Long Beach Police DepartmentChief Mike DuRee of Long Beach Fire Department were also on hand to personally.

This is one of dozens of events imagined, created and brought to you by Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team. Justin is also brings to Long Beach the Haute Dog Parade, Miss Long Beach Pageant, and the Turkey Trot to name just a few.

But today was about celebrating the Youth of July, and as always in grand style. Parents and youth alike took to the leisurely two mile parade route, many for the first time and for some more than a few years.

Bicycles, wagons, Razors and just about anything a child can put wheels to were dressed to the nines in red, white and blue. Some elaborate, some simple. But all done so a child could have bragging rights for a year, and of course $10 in prize money.
