Photos: Belmont Shore Shoplifters Caught in the Act

Do you know these suspects photographed in two small business store thefts this week?

The Belmont Shore Business Association just e-mailed this warning alert to all subscribers about shoplifters who they report are working Second Street and have stolen items and clerks' personal belongings. Surveillance cameras captured the attached very blurry images. Here's the notice:

November 19 around 4:30pm

WARNING:  Sway shoe store just got hit: two black males and one black female. They just started picking up merchandise.  The two males left and the female assaulted the owner as he was trying to stop her. Also, Storyteller Productionsa

The three kids in question were all African-American, and somewhere between 15-18 years of age. The shortest was a skinny girl with tight jeans, a tight bun hairstyle, and a Betsey Johnson bag.  She shouted "No! No! No!" at one point when they were in the store and they all left.

The medium sized kid was a boy with a rounded face, a black jacket, and a backpack.  He asked me if we could fix his phone to which we said no we don't do that and directed somewhere that might help.  Meanwhile, the tallest of the three was in the back of the group stealing my phone, which was on the front desk where I work. He was tall and skinny, wearing what I remember as red.

....Please be aware and call 911 if you spot these suspects or have any other problems.

Why are all security cameras, ya know, those cameras that are supposed to capture an incriminating photo of a criminal, so blurry?

Because they buy cameras which list screen resolution, as opposed to actual resolution. Example, a camera may say it is 600TVL, but the resolution is only 480. That's less than a 1mp camera picture. TVL is a factor, but also look at the total resolution. 480 and 320 are so outdated, I spent $80 on a wireless/smartphone enabled camera which gives me 720p resolution and can record on demand or by motion detection.

Hopefully the police will distribute these photos to the local schools!
