Doughnut lovers rejoice.

Krispy Kreme announced today that it will open 20 more shops across Southern California over the next seven years.

“We are thrilled to be growing our business in Southern California,” according to Roger Glickman, CEO of franchise owner Great Circle Family Foods, which already operates 11 Krispy Kreme shops in Southern California.

Long Beach is home to one Krispy Kreme, according to its website.

“This commitment for an additional 20 stores is a reflection of our success with the Krispy Kreme brand, our outstanding system-leading same store sales growth and our confidence in the small factory shop model,” Glickman said.

The new shops will stick with the “small factory” design, and will feature drive-through windows.

Exact locations have not been revealed.

Would rather see " Dunkin Donuts" and the only Krispy Kreme in LB doesn't even make the donuts on-site which, in my humble doughnut opinion, leaves the whole Krispy Kreme experience lacking. After all, a big part of KK is watching and anticipating those warm, sugary glazed confections as they roll past on the conveyor belt and right into that melt in your mouth experience.

I seem to recall the "full conveyor experience" at the one KK in Long Beach I know of. Also, the stories of a tunnel running under the street between the KK and the East Police Station are just a vicious rumor. I swear!!! ;-)

Rumors, yeah..sure:) When the LB KK opened they made the donuts on-site, but they stopped a few years ago.

Ah...then my information is dated. Thanks. and yes, vicious rumors, not a shred of truth...not a shred!
