Fuel Prices Back on the Rise

Renewed worry about the oil supply on the world market is sending fuel prices up again. This week saw gas prices rise in most of Southern California for the first time in two months, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. 

It put the average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Long Beach-Los Angeles area at $3.802 per gallon. That's 1.7 cents higher than last week, 16 cents lower than in June, and 69 cents higher than a year ago. In Orange County the average was 2.7 cents higher this week, at $3.782. Last year at this time it was $4.598.

According to MapQuest, the lowest price for gas in the U.S. is $3.13, in Phoenix, Ariz., and the highest is in Denali National Park, Alaska, at $4.85.
